Agatha Christie'nin 1929 tarihli kısa hikayesi The House of Lurking Death’ten uyarlanan filmin başrolünde Fransız sinemasının usta aktörü André Dussollier var. Prudence (Catherine Frot) ve Belisaire Beresford (Andre Dussollier) amatör dedektiflik yapan, yaşı geçkin bir çifttir. Babette Hala (Annie Cordy) ziyarete geldiğinde onlara trende camdan bakarken bir cinayete tanık olduğunu anlatır. Ancak ortada hiçbir delil yoktur. Yaşlı çift olayı araştırmak için hemen kolları sıvar ve olay mahaline gider.
