16 Haziran 1959... "Süpermen'in Maceraları" filminin Çelik Adamı George Reeves (Ben Affleck) için Hollywood'un görkemli günleri ölümüyle sona erer. Hollywood Tepeleri'ndeki evinde bir kurşun yarasıyla ölü bulunan Reeves ardında genç yıldız adayı bir nişanlı, milyonlarca acılı hayran ve bir anne bırakır. Ölümünün peşinden sadece annesi Helen Bessolo (Lois Smith) gidecek ve cevapsız sorulara yanıt arayacaktır. Helen bunun için özel dedektif Louis Simo (Adrien Brody) ile anlaşır. Simo, hiçbirşey göründüğü gibi olmadığını ve korkunç bir senaryo oynatıldığını keşfeder.
