Karısını öldürmeye teşebbüs suçundan hüküm giymiş ve mahkemesini bekleyen bir mahkum olan Claude Gaspard, başka bir hücreye transfer edilince, bu hücrede tanıştığı mahkumların hapishaneden kaçma planlarının olduğunu öğrenir. Bu sırada mahkum olduğu dava düşünce, Gaspard'a, en fazla 5 yıl içinde hapishaneden çıkacağı açıklanır. Fakat kaçış planı hala işliyordur ve diğer mahkumlar er geç bu durumu öğrenecektir...
