Luka İncili'ne göre Hz. İsa'nın Farisilerden Simun'un evinde karşılaştığı ve günahlarını affettiği kadın, Mecdelli Meryem'dir. Bir başka inanca göre ise Mecdelli Meryem seks işçiliği suçundan dolayı taşlanırken Hz. İsa onu kurtarır ve onu doğru yola yöneltir.
