Gerçek bir yaşamdan ilham alan film, eşcinsel bir oğul ve muhafazakar hristiyan annesi arasındaki ilişkiyi anlatıyor. Mary Griffith dindar bir hristiyandır. Oğlu Bobby'nin eşcinsel olduğunu öğrenince tanrının onu "iyileştireceği" ümidiyle genç adamı kiliseye gitmeye zorlar.
