Krypton gezegeni yok olmak üzeredir. Gezegeni terkedecek kadar aracı olmayan sakinleri, küçük bir bebeği bir kapsülle uzaya yollarlar. Kapsül uzun bir seyahat sonrası dünyaya, küçük bir Kansas kasabasına düşer. Kapsülü ve içindeki bebeği yaşlı ve çocuksuz bir çift olan Kent'ler bulur. Clark adını verdikleri ve kendi öz çocukları gibi sevdikleri çocuğun büyüdükçe inanılmaz güçlere sahip olduğunu keşfederler.
