Alexandre Dumas'nın klasik romanının televizyona uyarlaması. Edmond Dantes iyi talihini kıskananların hasız suçlamalarıyla mahkum olur ve hayatının geri kalanını If adasındaki şatoda hapis olarak geçirmesine karar verilir. Hapiste herkesin deli olduğunu düşündüğü Abbe Faria isimli mahkumla tanışır ve Abbe ona yerini sadece kendisinin bildiği küçük bir adada saklı hazineden bahseder. Abbe zaman içinde hapiste ölür ve Edmond da ceset kılığında kaçar. Artık hazineyi bulma ve onu hapsettirenlerden intikam alma vaktidir.
