Sarah O’Neill genç ve bekâr bir annedir. Oğlu Chris ile birlikte kırsalda bir eve taşınarak hayata yeni bir başlangıç yapmayı umut eder. Ancak işler pek de düşlediği gibi gitmez. Evlerinin arkasında bulunan ormana yürüyüşe çıktıkları bir gün Chris aniden ortadan kaybolur. Çaresizce oğlunu arayan Sarah bu sırada devasa bir çukur bulur. Bir süre sonra çocuk tuhaf davranışlar sergilemeye başlar.
